There are several ponds within the Chase and a sizeable area around one of them named 'the Slack' is out of bounds to Joe Public as it has been made a bird sanctuary.
Almost as soon as I entered the reserve I was struck by the sound of birdsong which accompanied me throughout my visit so presumably the sanctuary is a success? The feeling of peace and tranquility that descended upon me on entering the reserve was considerable and once more I was amazed at the possibility of escape from the constant crash, bang, wallop of the Metropolis even from within it's own borders, which I guess constitutes the tube/bus network or at most the M25.
I should have taken notes on my wanders as I do not know the name of the pond pictured below but it takes supreme efforts of organistion for me to remember to even charge the battery on my camera, so all else is a plus.
It's true that that I am no horticulturist, ornitholgist or really learner of any formal description but I know what I like and this place is cool so I will leave the anoraks and boffins to catergorise and label whilst i go about exploring, chilling and getting my natural highs.
