Highgate Cemetery 2

Having never visited Highgate Cemetery before, well the west side at least. I was quite exited at the prospect. Ever since seeing a feature about the Cemetery on 'Nationwide' a BBC program in the 70's I had been intrigued by the place. The program as I recall showed the Cemetery in an overgrown state of disrepair and was accompanied by the piano strains of ABBA's 'Chiquitita.'
I had booked my ticket and had to be at the Swains Lane entrance by 13:45 which I achieved despite my best procratstinating efforts with a couple of minutes to spare.

I joined my group of 15 and entered the cemetery for an hour long tour at a cost of 12 quid.
Our guide was a volunteer from the 'friends of highgate' who maintain the graveyard and proved as one would expect a fount of knowledge regarding the cemetery.
