Holland Park unlike most of the other places I have wittered on about is in fact a pukka park. I have included it as it is a special place for me and in general.
I have visited HP many times over the years. Once I was playing a drunken game of strip poker with a couple of gals and a guy from the nearby and now defunct Kensington Market after a night in the pub. Fortunately for all concerned I was almost fully clothed when the Rozzers appeared, whilst sadly the girls were down to undergarments as the game had to be abandoned, as I recall hazily it must be said. I do remember the guy, Hans I think his name was, running off almost naked when the POleece appeared much to everyone's amusement.
Anyway I digress. Holland Park was later frequented by yours truly on a more regular and less drunken basis a couple of years later when my son and his mum would visit to wander the woodland and look for entertainment in the playground. I do recall the playground being full of spoilt upper class foreign toddlers who would often torment my son and would generally be a good advertisment for Class War. I wonder if their successors still frequent the place? The woods however were great fun as was later the adventure playground.
Holland Park's woodland is for me the real selling point. You can keep the House although it is very pretty and its twatty celebrity chef resaurant but the woods are lovely.
