Kensal Green 2

Boot Hill Kensal stylee!

The Dark Lord visits KGC

Another fave spot within the cemetery is the grave strewn mound I've Christened Boot Hill, as shown above. It reminds me of graveyards in old Westerns (hence the nickname).
Kensal Green also has quite a Clashy connection for me which is significant as they and The Subway Sect were/are my top bands from Punky Time. I used to see Mick Jones along the canal from Kensal Green on occasion, visiting his Nan I think? The Gasworks across the canal from the Cemetery were used by Paul Simonon for the artwork for his 'Good the Bad and Queen' band and Joe Strummers funeral service was at the Kensal Green Cemetery itself. A pal, Andy and I went along to Ladbroke Grove to watch Strummers cortege pass on its way to Kensal Green, it was raining cats and dogs but we along with other fans gave him a farewell round of applause as he passed by. Anyway Kensal Green Cemetery is well Rock'n'Roll!
