Kew Bridge Eco Village

The villagers go out of their way to get along with both visitors and the local community and offer an open door policy to their domain. I was informed that the day after my visit they were offering a seed swapping event whereby people could drop by and sit beneath a specially erected big tent and exchange seeds (in a platonic fashion!) as well as I presume discuss the Village and drink tea?
The villagers have built several raised seed beds about the site and plan more in order to help feed themselves. Also planned are the planting of fruit trees and the purchase of chickens. The chickens will have to be kept away from the family of foxes that share the site!
This all sounds idylic but there are some down sides. As in all communities there are disagreements between the villagers. Also there is a fair amount of junk lying around which blights some of the site; some left by the builders repairing the fence and some left by villagers themselves. Not to mention stories of rats and mice! But all in all I found the Eco Village to be a positive and interesting place operating a potentially ancient village existance on land perhaps half a dozen or so miles from Piccadilly Circus!

Clockwise... the Eco Village is on the green square above the river and bridge! Kelly's (I think?) house in the village, a wonderful sculpture I saw leaning against a wall of a free clothes shop in the village and finally the communal loo!
