Ruislip Woods is the first new site I have visited this year due to the incredibly awful weather which is really getting on my Hampton. The reason for my visit was that the day before my friend Jan's father John Madany, Polish born Russian prisoner, refugee, soldier, immigrant and bike enthusiast was cremated at the nearby crematorium and whilst working out my route I was drawn to the woods and decided the following day as it was not pissing down with rain to pay it a visit.
What a joy the woods are and a very pleasant afternoon I enjoyed there. The couple in the photo on the right, Ray and Jean, who I met whilst wandering and chatted to at length were, by coincedence, originally from my area but moved to Ruislip years ago partly because of their love of the woods. Nice people.
