Warren Farm sports fields are quite close to my home in Hanwell and form a part of the green corridor that runs along the River Brent and Grand Union Canal. The sports fields are enormous and provided facilities for school children, sports clubs and the local community for decades. I miss the sound of the football and rugby pitches being used and that of the annual Summer Tamil community sports festival that was held on the site. Now there is silence but only until QPR Football Club are leased the site for 200 years by Ealing Council and access for the community is lost or at best severely restricted. Not only this but historic footpaths are under threat as are pastoral views which I for one take great pleasure from.
Instead of giving the land away Ealing Council should be utilising the space and renovating the buildings to encourage sports in the area. The Government are telling the people that they should do more sports and be fitter yet are allowing a glorious site for such life enhancing activities to be lost for ever.
PUBLIC LAND IS NOT EALING COUNCILS TO SURRENDER AND THIS IS YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE PEOPLE HAVING THEIR ASSETS SOLD, LITERALLY FROM UNDER THEIR FEET! NHS, POST OFFICE, POWER, RAILWAYS ETC ETC. PACK IT IN EALING YOU ARE BANG OUT OF ORDER!
